Bye Bye Veggies
A downloadable game for Windows
Hi everyone! This is my first game, so it's here for free.
I really like survivors-like games and wanted to try making one that my daughter can play someday. So in Bye Bye Veggies you are a toddler on the kitchen table, the vegetables are angry, and they are coming for you.

Your attacks fire themselves at the nearest veggie, so all you do is move. Eight vegetables that each fight differently, with elite versions mixed in, and the table fills up fast.
Broccoli come first and they just charge. Every couple of minutes a new kind joins the table with its own speed, health and bite: beetroots hit harder, carrots are quick and fragile, cauliflowers take a beating. From 2:30 the elites start showing up. They are bigger, they shrug off knockback, and now and then one drops a heart when it goes down. The pressure keeps climbing until the fifteen-minute mark, and after that it is overtime.

Every level offers three upgrades across four rarity tiers. Five weapons that fire on their own, and the build is yours to shape.
Sixteen upgrades roll as Common, Uncommon, Rare or Legendary, and Special cards like Twin Shot and Second Chance change how a whole run plays. The weapons are the Magic Shot, the Magic Star, the Little Comet, the Magic Leaf and the Lightning, and you can carry all five at once. Stack attack speed and the table disappears under projectiles. Stack movement and armor and you can outlast a crowd that should have ended you.

Coins carry between runs and buy permanent stat ranks and weapon unlocks in the shop. Short runs, instant retry.
Every XP orb you pick up is also a coin, banked the moment the run ends, however it ends. The shop sits right on the game-over screen: twelve permanent stat ranks, four weapon unlocks, and a refund button if you want to try a different spread. Your first runs will be short. That is the point.

WASD, the arrow keys or the left stick to move. P or Start to pause. That is all of it.
Every menu, the level-up cards and the shop included, works with keyboard, mouse or gamepad, so it plays fine from the couch.

Free. No ads, nothing to buy. If you enjoy it, a donation helps me keep making games.
The cover and key art were made with AI image tools, and I built the game with AI coding help. The design, the balance and every decision are mine.
The download is about 860 MB. That is Unreal Engine, not extra content.
This is version 0.2.0. There is a FEEDBACK button in the game and I read every comment below. Tell me what broke, what felt unfair, and how far you got. Thanks for playing.
If you are curious how it was made, the whole build is written up in four posts on my site: part one, part two, part three and part four. More at brunkagames.com.
